5.2. Using Assist Notifier
Assist Notifier will show you the tasks you have to complete today (including overdue tasks) on the Task List and will notify you via a small pop up in the bottom right of your screen when you have new tasks. You can open the task in assist:directory from the Assist Notifier task list to complete the task.
5.2.1 Logging in to Assist Notifier
Assist Notifier will normally start automatically:
- When you complete the initial installation.
- When you login to your computer subsequently.
If it is not already running you can also start Assist Notifier by selecting it from your start menu. You can see if Assist Notifier is running by the small icon in your task bar in the bottom right of your screen.

When Assist Notifier starts you will need to login by entering your email address and password as you would to login to assist:directory. You can set Assist Notifier to log you in automatically when it starts so you don't have to do this each time by ticking the checkbox provided. (You can change also this setting in the options section.)

Tip: You can logout of Assist Notifier and leave it running by clicking on the icon in your task bar and selecting 'Disconnect'.

If Assist Notifier is running but you are not logged in you can open the login box by clicking on the icon in your task bar and selecting 'Connect'.

5.2.2. Viewing your Tasks
When you login to Assist Notifier, it will check to see if you have any tasks due today or overdue on assist:directory. A message will be shown in the bottom right of your screen to notify you. It will then check and at regular intervals (defaulting to 10 minutes, but you can change this in the options section) for any new tasks and display a message if there are any.

Click on the message to open your task list.

Tip: You can also open your task list at any time by clicking on the icon in the task bar and selecting 'Show Task List'.
You have two options in the task list window:
Refresh Now will check assist:directory for any new or completed tasks and update the task list accordingly.
Go to Website is available once you have selected a task, and will open the task in assist:directory so you can complete it.
Once a task has been completed it will be removed from the task list, either at the next automatic check (every ten minutes or as set in the options section) or the next time the 'Refresh Now' button is clicked.
You can also login to assist:directory at any time by clicking on the icon in your task bar and selecting 'Login to Website'.
5.2.3. Assist Notifier Options
There are a number of options you can set for Assist Notifier. Click on the icon in your task bar and select 'Options' to display the Options window.

- Remember password and login automatically Tick this box if you would like Assist Directory to log you in automatically when it starts, without you having to enter your password each time.
- Check for new tasks Allows you to set the interval for automatically checking assist:directory for new tasks.
- Play sound on notification Tick this box if you would like to hear an audible notification when the message notifying you of new tasks appears.
- Hide popup after Allows you to set how many seconds you would like the message notifying you of new tasks to appear for.
When you have selected the options you want, click OK to save them.
